Accommodation in Yangon:

Sedona Yangon is our official Ram Katha hotel, the same place as the Ram Katha venue. The organizers have secured limited amount of rooms at a special package rate negotiated for Ram Katha attendees and is exclusive for this event only. Bookings will only be confirmed upon full payment.

Please use the booking facility, from this Ram Katha website only.

Our Recommendations - Please Read fully:
1. We anticipate a high demand for the rooms that may outweigh availability at this historic city of Yangon. Ram Katha guests are therefore invited to book as soon as possible, as allocation will be on first come basis. Once the room and Katha Hall capacity is reached the booking facility will be closed.

2. The traffic situation in Yangon is extremely busy and taxis can become expensive, hence we have secured adequate rooms at the Katha venue, to make your stay comfortable.

3. Within this booking we advise you to book half board (inclusive of breakfast and dinner) as we have arranged special chefs to cater for Indian, Continental, Thai and Chinese pure vegetarian cuisine. Dining out can be very expensive, and there are very limited vegetarian options available. We have negotiated a special half board rate for all Ram Katha attendees. Please note the organizers are providing Prasad after each day of Ram Katha. Breakfast and dinner will be dependent on the room package you choose.

4. Once you have received your booking confirmation please register on the appropriate registration link provided.

5. We advise you book airport transfers at the same time as booking your room. The taxis can be expensive and many drivers do not speak English, which can be a challenge. Use the appropriate link to send your flight details if you have booked airport transfer at the same time as accommodation, once you have received your hotel confirmation.

6. The Ram Katha Hotel requires that ALL Ram Katha attendees must register, and collect their entry badge from the Ram Katha Helpdesk. This is for security, catering, and logistical purposes only. You will be asked to present your Ram Katha Badge before entering the hall so please make sure you present this for each day of the Katha.

7. Our Ram Katha Myanmar Team is there to assist and help you to make your stay comfortable. We kindly request you to respect their duties and assist them with your cooperation. The Ram Katha Myanmar Host really appreciates your understanding in this matter.

Myanmar climate is very similar to India. It will be dry and hot in March.

The local currency of Myanmar is Kyat (pronounced as Chat), although US dollars are accepted in many places. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL US DOLLARS ARE CRISP AND NEW AND NOT BENT as no one will accept used or old notes.

You can exchange money at the airport or foreign exchange bureau and at the Ram Katha venue hotel Sedona.

Please note the currency for exchange is predominantly US DOLLARS and then EURO (Not British pounds or Indian rupee)

Credit card use is very limited except in hotels and some restaurants. Most transactions are in cash so we would advise you to carry sufficient cash in Kyat or US dollars for the whole duration of your visit.

For your guidance $1 USD = 1250 Kyat approximately.

Myanmar is the most expensive country in Asia after Singapore.

Medical and Travel Insurance:

Myanmar is still relatively developing country with very limited medical facilities. The nearest fully equipped medical facilities are in Bangkok, Singapore and India. So please ensure that you arrive with full medical cover and travel insurance, as the Organizers will not take any responsibility for any medical emergencies.

Getting around Yangon:

The only means of traveling in Yangon is by taxis and organized or private tours. There are no public transports such as rickshaw, buses or trains. The traffic in Yangon requires lots of patience! Our appointed Tour Mandalay and Ram Katha Help desk will be glad to assist with tours etc.

Yangon (Formerly Rangoon) introduction:

Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar still retains much of its colonial character. The grand buildings of the downtown area and the old mansions in the diplomatic quarter are clear testament to the former British presence. In contrast to this, the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda is perhaps the most vivid demonstration of how seriously the Burmese take their Buddhist faith, with a stream of devotees bringing offerings to the various shrines within the temple complex.

No visit to Myanmar is complete without at least a few hours spent at the Shwedagon Pagoda the most famous site in Myanmar.

We feel this is a beautiful country and a perfect backdrop to our Ram Katha and we want you to have a wonderful experience to explore this region in your free time after the Katha.

We have teamed up with Tour Mandalay who have organized Yangon city tours as well as country tour should you come earlier and they have organized special packages for Ram Katha attendees. They will be present at the Ram Katha Help desk to assist. Payment will be in cash so please have sufficient cash preferably $ USD please ensure that all USD $ are crisp, new and not creased.

Upon arrival each Ram Katha attendee booked at the Katha Hotel through our official booking form will receive a special delegate pack containing further information on Ram Katha and this beautiful country of Golden Pagodas known as Myanmar.

Ram Katha Myanmar Team would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation in our arrangements. Our aim is to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable time in Myanmar. We would like to wish you an amazing Ram Katha experience and a very memorable stay in Yangon.
